Maybe your next level requires doing less
Sep 30, 2026
You work late to fill the empty spaces. Reach for your phone or start another project or solve another problem instead of actually being with yourself or being bored.
There’s always something that could use your attention.
And when you’ve built a successful business, there’s an endless supply of legitimate reasons to keep going.
There’s a point where being busy stops being about how much you have to do and starts being about how uncomfortable it feels to have nothing to do.
What happens when there’s nothing left to accomplish for the day?
Can you sit in your own company without needing to make the moment productive?
Can you be bored without immediately filling the space?
Can you rest without feeling like you should be doing something?
Because sometimes the drive to keep working isn’t ambition.
It’s avoidance.
Busyness can become a very effective way to never have to be alone with what you’re feeling.
And your nervous system can become so accustomed to the stimulation, pressure and urgency that stillness actually feels uncomfortable.
So you assume you need better time management.
More discipline.
A better routine.
When what you may actually need is to learn how to feel safe when nothing is being asked of you.
To learn how to DO LESS.
To let an empty afternoon stay empty.
To stop measuring the value of a day by how much you accomplished.
To discover who you are when you’re not producing, performing, solving or holding everything together.
Because the next level of your life may not require you to become better at doing more.
It may require you to finally become comfortable with doing less.
